CAA manages the careers of Hollywood A-listers such as Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg. The LA-based CAA so far has its franchise company in London and Beijing. It has been looking for an opening in Mumbai to enable them a collaborative window into Bollywood.
KWAN jumped into the CAA'a range of vision about 8 months ago and has cracked a far-reaching deal which would impact and influence Indian cinema's hitherto-nebulous association with Hollywood.
Says a source very close to the deal, "So far Bollywood has been a tenuous, ambiguous hazy area of entertainment-related activities for Hollywood. We've had numerous laughable tie-ups between Indian filmmakers and stars and Hollywood being announced and aborted. The world is laughing at our announcements with Al Pacino, Richard Gere, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Leonardo diCaprio which only the Bollywood filmmakers making the announcements, seem aware of. For the first time A-listers from Hollywood would actually be in direct and official contact with Bollywood. Collaborations between the two cinemas would now be done as an organized industry rather than a sporadic fizzled-out attempts at tie-ups."
KWAN's founding member Madhu Mantena has been stationed in LA for the last two weeks working out the final steps in the complex deal with CAA.
And now it's reliably though unofficially learnt that CAA is all set to start functioning in Mumbai with KWAN as a partner.
